讲座内容简介:

Debris flows are high mobile gravity driven mixtures of soil, rock and water. The high velocity and the ability to carry large boulders endanger human lives and infrastructures. To mitigate natural hazards like debris flows, the knowledge of physical and dynamic parameters and the interaction of the moving mass with mitigation measures is of utmost importance. Therefore, monitoring plays an important role in debris flow research for data gathering to understand these hazardous natural processes.

Subsequent, due to the high portion of Alpine regions in Austria, a long tradition in torrent control works in Austria exists. Nowadays an enormous number of structural measures, mainly check dams, can be found in the mountainous area. In the past, the design and construction of torrential check dams was only based on the experience of the engineering practice.

To establish a comprehensive technical standard for torrent control engineering both, experiences and monitoring research build the backbone of a holistic approach including load models, design, dimensioning and life cycle assessment for the national guideline for debris-flow mitigation measure in Austria.

 

Georg Nagl博士简介:

DI Georg Nagl is a PhD student of Prof. Hübl. He owns a Bachelor-Diploma in Environmental Engineering and a Master-Diploma in Mountain Risk Engineering.  His topic is monitoring of natural debris-flow structure interaction. He is additional working on the national guidelines for debris flow mitigation of Austria.
