The 2nd "Gu Dezhen Lecture" and Seminar on Innovation and Development of Engineering Geomechanics was held on November 18, 2018 at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.
"Gu Dezhen Lecture" is set up to commemorates one of the founders of the late engineering geology discipline in China, the founder of the theoretical system of rock engineering geology mechanics, the first chairman of the engineering geology professional committee, the first chairman of the IAEG China National Group, the first director of the hydrogeology Engineering Geology Research Department of the Institute of Geology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and member of the Ministry of Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. Gu Dezhen. It is the highest lecture in the field of engineering geology in China, held once a year.
The conference was hosted by the Key Laboratory of Shale Gas and Geological Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and co-organized by the Engineering Geology Committee of the Chinese Geological Society, the China Association of Engineering Geology and Environment (IAEG) and the Journal of Engineering Geology. Director Liu Yu, Department of Environmental Geosciences, Department of Geosciences, Ministry of Geosciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Director Duan Xiaonan, Department of Geosciences, Bureau of Frontier Science and Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and nearly 100 experts and scholars from home and abroad participated in the lecture. Gu Dezhen's lecture report and invited academic report are rich in content and high in academic level, which is a high-level academic feast.
Professor Cheng Qianqiong of our college was invited to attend the conference and gave a special report on the conference entitled "Rock avalanche emplacement mechanism in key zone of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau".
The report was based on the research results of the emplacement mechanism of Nyixoi Chongco rock avalanche in the SN-trending Yadong-Gulu rift Angang graben of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and Luanshibao rock avalanche driven by strike-slip thrust faults in the Maoyaba basin of the western Sichuan Plateau achieved by his research team in recent years, and supported by the key projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China (41530639) and international (regional) cooperation and exchange projects (41761144080). Assembly, which aroused heated discussions and questions from experts at home and abroad who studied the geological hazards of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. After the report, domestic and foreign experts studying the geological disasters on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau conducted heated discussions and questions.
In addition, as the Editorial Committee of the Fifth Editorial Committee of the Journal of Engineering Geology, Professor Cheng Qianchong participated in the meeting of the Editorial Committee of the Journal on the morning of November 17.
