At the dawn of the 10^thanniversary of the Wenchuan earthquake and the 10^thNational Disaster prevention and Mitigation Day, the Expert committee of the National Disaster Reduction Commission and the Sichuan provincial Disaster Reduction Commission jointly organized the 9^thNational Forum on Integrated Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Sustainable Development in Chengdu, Sichuan province, May 10^th. Zheng Guoguang, deputy minister of Ministry of Emergency Management of PRC and administrator of China Earthquake Administration, and Peng Yu, vice governor of Sichuan province, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered separate speeches.

The 9^thNational Forum on Integrated Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Sustainable Development focused on the 10^thanniversary of the Wenchuan earthquake, the reform of the institutional mechanism for disaster prevention and mitigation, the scientific and technological applications and industrial development of disaster prevention and mitigation, the popular science education of disaster prevention, and more than 200 experts and scholars from disaster prevention and mitigation and disaster relief attended the forum. Professor Zhu Qing, as deputy director of the Expert committee of Sichuan Provincial Disaster Reduction Commission, participated in the preparations for the Forum and was invited to report on "Progress and trends of remote sensing disaster reduction technology-taking Sichuan as an example".
