On November 9-11, 2018, the 7th University GIS Forum was held in Kunming. The College GIS Forum (CGF) is a non-profit academic forum supported by the government, self-organized by universities, and participated by enterprises. It was founded in 2006 and is held every two years. The forum has set up a platform for dialogue and communication between the government, enterprises and scholars to improve the GIS education, and enhance GIS academic exchange, enrich GIS application research, and accelerate the development of GIS industry. The session was hosted by Yunnan Normal University and the theme of this conference is “Zhihui·win-win”.
Professor Jun Zhu won the "GIS Innovative Person" Award, and the Ph.D. Mingwei Liu supervised by Prof. Qing Zhu won the "GIS Rising Star" award. Professor Qing Zhu and his team members, Dr. Han Hu and Professor Tao Liu also won the " GIS New Prominent" award. Professor Jun Zhu and Dr. Mingwei Liu were invited to give reports on “Disaster Scene Integration Modeling and Visualization Enhancement” and “Full Space Augmented Reality Visualization Engine”.
The next GIS forum will be held by Guangzhou University in Guangzhou in 2020.
