September 27th to 28th, the 2012 Annual Symposium on the theory and methodology of geo-information science was held at the Li Campus Academic Exchange Center.
Academician Xu Guanhua, former minister of science and technology, Academician Gong Jianya, chairman of the china geographic information industry association theory and method committee, school party secretary Gu Liya, as well as experts from China Geographical Information Industry Association, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xinjiang Ecology and Geography Research Institute, National Mapping Geographic Information Bureau and other relevant units led the annual meeting. More than 200 experts and scholars from Peking University, Wuhan University and PLA University of Information Engineering attended the meeting.
The conference aims to build a platform for the exchange of geo-information science, inviting experts, scholars and industry elites in relevant research and application fields to conspire to develop the theory, technology, methods and application of GIS. The conference was organized by the China National Geographic Information System Industry association theory and Method Committee, school of Geosciences and Environment Engineering in Southwest Jiaotong University and Sichuan province Surveying and Mapping Geographic Information Bureau. During the opening ceremony, Gu Liya introduced the basic situation of our school's Geography information system discipline. Gu expressed the hope that through the academic year, we will jointly promote the theoretical research, method innovation and industrial application of geo-information science, and make greater contribution to the prosperity and development of GIS technology and industry in China.
Yang Shen, deputy director-general of china geographic information, Tang Hai vice secretary of china information industry association, Gong Jiaya, chairman of the Committee on theory and methodology, Jiang Jie, president of the 4th Committee of the National Society for Photogrammetry and remote sensing, also made a speech at the opening ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, academician Gong Jianya presided over the general keynote report of conference. The former Minister of the Ministry of Science, Xu Guanhua, made a report entitled "Global Change and sustainable development". Prof. Zhou Chenghu, vice director of geographical information Industry of CAS, Gong Jianya, chairman of the Committee on theory and Methodology of China Geographic and professor Zhou Taoof Internet Science gave reports entitled "Some reflections on the development of geographic information systems", "high precision positioning and calibration methods for satellite remote sensing images", " the research progress of space complex network”, respectively.
The annual meeting also set up a special report and academic salon, covering parallel space computing and optimization, sensing network and spatial data acquisition, three-dimensional and multidimensional GIS, and many other topics.
